IPX achieves this data security utilizing technology at the VSAT modem level, router or firewall level, VIA VPN technology or can provide specialized appliances that provide WAN optimization and data network security.
Acceleration For Satellite Networks
IP acceleration is critical to alleviate the effects of latency on a data network . TCP acceleration & compression capabilities improve application performance over the WAN by eliminating redundant transmissions, accelerating TCP and application-specific protocols, prioritizing and allocating access to bandwidth, and ensuring high availability between sites with multiple WAN links. The WAN appliances reduce the impact of latency caused by satellite links. In communicating via geo-synchronous satellites, the physics of getting bits from point to point when the data takes a 23,000-mile trip into space and back can mean serious latency and requires TCP acceleration strategies to minimize the impact of 540ms to 800ms round trips to vital applications in telehealth that would suffer from significant delays.
The IPX WAN technologies support quality of service (QoS) and IPsec encryption, an important attribute that allows clinics that couldn’t afford to upgrade their routers to support the encryption requirements. These communication technologies also give clinics the opportunity to utilize the security in the WAN appliance optimization to deliver medical grade encryption.

Appliance-to-Appliance Encryption
WAN optimization appliances offer IPSEC encryption between appliances as an option. Turning this feature on ensures that the references and underlying data shared between two sites are encrypted before they leave the WAN appliances. If you already use a VPN to encrypt data between two sites, this feature may not be needed. But if you do, IPX WAN appliances support DES, 3DES, AES-128, and AES-256 encryption.
Data Store Encryption
WAN appliances also provide encryption capability for the data stored on disk in WAN optimization appliances for organizations that require high levels of security or face stringent compliance requirements. Encryption standards supported include AES-128, AES-192, and AES-256 and keys are maintained in an encrypted key vault.
